Stan Wall – Chief Executive Officer
As the Chief Executive Officer for Lifeguarding Services Australia, Stan is responsible for the strategic planning, leadership and operational logistics for various government, local council and private facilities and events. An extension of his aquatic leadership includes being an active member of the leisure industry as a Board Member of the Aquatic and Recreation Institute (ARI).
Stan hold’s position’s on both the NSW Sport and Recreation Skills Council providing support and guidance as an aquatics industry representative and has severed as an independent subject matter expert on the national training package development for skills IQ.
With over 30 years’ experience as a professional surf, open water and pool lifeguard and 18 years as an emergency officer with extensive aquatic, disaster and aviation rescue experience, Stan leads the field in aquatic event safety and risk management. He has personally managed the risk management of over 4,000 major events, including holding management positions for the logistic coordination and operations management of aquatic sports at the Sydney Aquatic Centre during the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In 2017 Stan was awarded life membership of the Aquatic & Recreation Institute and has been awarded a number of industry and government awards for his services to the community and the aquatics industry including but not limited to the National Medal of Australia, Emergency Services Long Service Medal, Fellow of the Aquatics Industry and the Orimatech award for excellence for outstanding performance in the Aquatic Industry.
Lifeguarding Services Australia maintains the highest standard in staff training and qualifications, currently NSW is leading the way with higher more advanced qualifications required for all lifeguards. These qualifications are aligned to national competencies out of the public safety, sport & recreation and health training packages. Each of these competencies must be delivered by a Registered Training Organisation and are included in the NSW Practice Note 15 (Water Safety).
Lifeguard Proficiency Testing
The role of a lifeguard is challenging and each location and environment presents new and unique situations for the lifeguard to overcome. As part of our quality management, all Lifeguarding Services Australia lifeguards must attend quarterly “in-service” training. The purpose of this training is to ensure fitness, rescue and medical skills are kept at the highest standard
